  • Advertising target audience: Physicians
  • Problem: Antihistamine in itch-relief medication for kids can cause some serious side effects. Client has a lotion without antihistamine that can treat itch problems and they wanted doctors to recommend this option before turning to antihistamine.
  • Solution: A serious of advertisements based on fun photographs of kids demonstrating the solution was developed to deliver the serious message. A consumer campaign ran parallel with a campaign targeting physicians to encourage a discussion between medical provider and patient. See samples in the consumer section of the portfolio.

Advertising For Social / Political Lobbying Campaign.
 
  • Advertisements target audience: Physicians and medical professionals
  • Problem: Client wanted to reach medical professionals to build support for political issues the organization care about and lobby for. Each issue contain a complex mixture of moral, economical and health subjects which many people have strong opinionated feelings about. AMA wanted to communicate their position clearly but without giving the other side ammunition.
  • Solution: The message was split into two parts: one where short statements of patient's problem were spelled out and one part where AMA's position was explained. Highly emotional black and white photographs support AMA's position.
  • Results: The campaign started a debate from inside the medical field and spread out to the public media.

Advertising Campaign For Social Health Program.
 
  • Advertising, marketing programs, social events, super hero magazines target audience: teens, parents, politicians, the cigarette industry and the general public
  • Situation: Client work in many ways for public health. As an art director at a leading advertising agency in Chicago i was asked to come up with an anti-smoking character just some hours before a new business pitch. I sketched up a heroic character whose super power was to "kick butts". His name was The Extinguisher.
  • Result: The agency got the business and they wanted to develop the anti-smoking character in many different directions. Their strategy was to empowering children to say no to cigarettes. The Extinguisher turned into a comic magazine super hero. Advertising and marketing campaigns were built around him. Actors were hired dressed up as The Extinguisher to participate in kids events throughout the nation. The campaign got national media attention and initiated a political dialog for new cigarette legislations.
